Avoiding soda at any age is a common knowledge, but soda is an even bigger hazard when you have abnormal blood sugar levels which are a usual problem for people in their 50s. Soda can boost your blood sugars up, increasing the risk for type-2 diabetes. Researches also show that a high-sugar diet is incorporated to having unhealthy cholesterol and triglyceride levels, which are major risk factors for heart disease.

Your metabolism slows down naturally as you age.
